Fresh Life Produce has created a vertical, sustainable growing system (or tower) which is a space-saving device that consists of multiple growing pods stacked on top of one another. The tower is suspended from any appropriate fixture making it pest resilient. It can be located at home to address nutrition, and when scaled, can create economic opportunity. Each individual using the African Grower is embarking on a possible enterprise opportunity.

I heard about Sakhulwazi from Cape Talk radio and I knew the founder Mama Rose from my area. How has Sakhulwazi made a difference in your life? It makes a big difference because, from the experience I get here, now I can make dresses, beads and plant vegetables in any small space I have in my yard. What words, in your language, would you like to teach the world? I want to teach the world that women have the power to build a better world – abafazi banamadla okwakna ilizwe.

I was not working, sitting at home doing nothing, then Mama Rose came and told me about Sakhulwazi. How has Sakhulwazi made a difference in your life? I met Mama Rose because I was working next to Sakhulwazi Co-Op and she recruited me. How has Sakhulwazi made a difference in your life? How long have you been at Sakhulwazi Women’s Co-Op? I have been at Sakhulwazi since 2008. Where did you hear about Sakhulwazi Women’s Co-Op? I met with Mama Rose after the incident that occured from me losing my only two kids from a shooting. I used to stay at home, alone, but then I met Mama Rose and she brought me to Sakhulwazi. How has Sakhulwazi made a difference in your life? It made a big difference because I learnt to socialize with the other woman and she showed me how to do beading. It was my first time doing it in my life and now I am the genius in beading. What words, in your language, would you like to teach the world?
